Students of the Year Chicago
The Students of the Year campaign is a philanthropic leadership development program through which highly motivated, high-school leaders embark on a journey of professional growth, ensuring that they stand out when preparing for college and beyond. During the program, students foster professional skills such as entrepreneurship, marketing, and project management in order to raise funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). Student leaders fundraise for LLS in honor of children who are blood cancer survivors. The title Student(s) of the Year is awarded to the candidate or co-candidate team in each community that raises the most funds during the 7-week competition.
Congratulations to 2020 Chicago Student of the Year Emma B and all our 2020 Students of the Year participants! Collectively, 15 Chicagoland high school student led teams comprised of 21 candidates raised over $460,000 for the LLS mission to cure blood cancer!

Students of the Year Chicago Local Honored Hero
Ashley is a senior in high school, a 2020 SOY Candidate, and a survivor of childhood leukemia. She was diagnosed on 1/1/14 at age 11 and fought hard to win the battle. Ashley spent 160+ days in the hospital that year, was given total body radiation, and received a life-saving bone marrow transplant in June 2014 from a total stranger. She was in isolation for 9 months and missed 20 months of school. Today, Ashley continues to battle with the lasting effects of the toxic treatment, including chronic kidney disease which will require a kidney transplant in the future. She's grateful for LLS and the work you all do to help kids like her.
